Pride keeps us from truth...
Pride keeps us from God...
Pride keeps us from salvation....
Pride keeps us from love and service....
Pride keeps us from each other....

We see that sin of pride everywhere....

As in "Justification actually depends on ME..... my decisions, my actions, my repentance, my good works, my feelings... I'm the Savior of me because I'm all I need, I'm good enough (pat self on back)." Jesus made just a helper or teacher or inspiration or door opener- possibility maker.

As in "God gave the Bible and the Holy Spirit just to ME cuz I'm ME.... so I will tell everyone else what God MEANT to inspire into His Word (but blew it).... I alone will tell you what God MEANS and how it's not what He said... cuz I'm ME and I'm all God and everyone needs."

Pride isn't always bad like if you have pride in your child. It's when it points to self and makes oneself a mini-god that things go wrong.

The English language explains pride somewhat.
Arrogance or haughtiness is a closer description of the leaven that puffs up.

Pride, greed, and fear all go hand in hand. They can all seem right, but are quite wrong. All three can stop one from hearing and doing according to the Truth.

Some verses on pride:

Psalm 10:4 In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.

Proverbs 13:10 Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.

Romans 12:16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

Isaiah 2:11-12 The eyes of the arrogant will be humbled and human pride brought low; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day. The Lord Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted (and they will be humbled),

James 4:6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”

Proverbs 8:13 To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.

Proverbs 21:24 The proud and arrogant person—“Mocker” is his name— behaves with insolent fury.

1 Corinthians 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
