I'm rehearsing the song The Holy City and there is a section that I'm trying to work out in my mind for meaning. I'd like to hear other thoughts on this. Here are the words of that section:
The light of God was on its streets
The gates were open wide,
And all who would might enter,
And no one was denied.
I was listening to different versions of this song on YouTube and an atheist had written that even though he didn't believe in God, he liked that part of the song. Why would an atheist be happy he could enter the Holy City if he didn't believe?
I think the meaning of this section relies upon how "all who would" is meant to be interpreted?
