What is the hardest goodbye you’ve ever done?

My hardest goodbye was to my husband when he passed away last year in march to this day we miss him so much and when my mum died years ago such sad times. There's never a day goes by when we don't think about them both. Also my big brother died last October so it really was a crap year for us..

Saying goodbye to my mom before she passed away was the hardest. I understood why she was ready to go and since she was a Christian it was easier in that aspect since I know I'll see her again when I pass as well. But that loss of earthly relationship is still hard.

I totally agree with you lamb it's a year this Saturday that we lost our best friend my hubby and my daughter's dad it's gone so quick but honestly we wouldn't want him back in the condition he was in he truly was so ill.

The hardest goodbye for me was saying goodbye to my Dad. He fought a long and courageous battle with colon cancer but the cancer won. I remember getting the phone call that he was being given his last rites and I was 5 hours away at the time. I told the nurse to tell my Dad I was on my way. She told me he wasn't going to still be alive in 5 hours. I begged her to tell him anyway. She said she would.

When I got to the hospital and walked in his room, I truly thought he was gone. I walked over to his bed and kissed his cheek and told him how much I loved him. I also told him it was time to 'go home'. A tear trickled down his face and a few minutes later, he was gone.

My mum did the same thing on the day after Christmas 16yrs ago now, we went to see her in hospital and was told she was going down to the operating centre and we should come back later. So we said see you later gave her a kiss on the cheek and a tear rolled down her face, I had a funny idea but said nothing to my daughter and we left decided to go look at the shops, then got a phone call saying hurry up back as she wasn't doing to well. So we jumped in the car and got stuck at some traffic lights I looked at my daughter and we both said the same thing when we got to the ward they said she died 10mins ago. That was when we was at the traffic lights. I was gutted she was my best friend in the world.. but she didn't want to go on anymore at 93 years old. I can't say I blame her she did have a very hard life when she was young. So I understand how you all feel..

Aw, that's sad but she sounded ready and it was too hard to tell you. When I'm ready I don't think I could tell my daughter either even though I might hint about it beforehand.
