The demons could not have faith because Christ was not sent for them. They know God exists so they believe He exists. We can only believe in Him by faith, and that is a gift from Him. As believers we have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit who guides us into obedience.

What a very beautiful post. Thanks Lam.

In Greek belief and faith are the same word, demons believe and we believe. In English faith is treated as something quite distinct from "mere belief". The verse in James may be translated You have faith that God is one; you do well. Even the demons have faith --and shudder. James 2:19 . What differentiates demonic belief/faith from Christian belief/faith is that Christians love God and serve him while demons do not serve him and apparently hate him.

The difference is that the demons could never have a "saving" faith because they cannot "trust" that the Savior would save them. He wasn't given to them. Only mankind can have a real faith for salvation which is what our faith points to...the savior who saves us.
