Why didn't Adam and Eve find it odd that the serpent could talk if no other animals spoke?

Why didn't Adam and Eve find it odd that the serpent could talk if no other animals spoke?

They saw God walking in the garden. I bet they noticed the spirit.
I wonder if it was a real animal that was posessed.
A woman who taught girls in a group from Corrie ten Boom taught the girls that the snake used to have legs like a chicken and from that moment on they called her chickensnake.

We used to have the fable papers on tv when I was a kid.

The owl always said at the end of the story: and now dear telly children, go cosy to your warm beds and think about it: beaks closed and eyes closed, sleep cosy.

The fables aren't as old as the Torah so the Greeks must have had some influence from the Hebrews/Jews.
