HOW can someone be a stowaway in this day and age??? Who failed to watch their post and she got in?

The last time I flew internationally there were enough checks that it's hard to see how anyone could bypass all of them.

From what I recall the security screening required a boarding pass, then boarding passes were checked upon boarding, then a flight assistant came around and took a headcount. It's easy to see how someone could slip past one of the checks but hard to see how they could defeat all of them and not be spotted until several hours into the flight.
