@Holy999, the thread is entitled "Spiritual WARFARE." It is described in Ephesians 6:10-20:

Eph 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Eph 6:13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
Eph 6:15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.
Eph 6:16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;
Eph 6:17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
Eph 6:18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
Eph 6:19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,
Eph 6:20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.

Notice that constant prayer is the action that holds all our "armor" on to fight against the devil and demons (verses 18-20).

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Very true! Therefore, we need to pray persistently for Jesus' victory to become more and more evident in our lives and in those of all true believers. He has overcome the evil forces in principle and is in the process of beating them in practice.

A man walks the line like the Johnny Cash song. God's way is a path. There may be people or "Things" working to push pull a man off the path. A man walks the line.

How do you know Johnny Cash meant that ethical and biblical idea about God's path, @Manonfire63?

Johnny Cash wanted to be a Gospel singer originally. He ended up with an honorary degree in divinity I believe.

The lyrics work. I suppose I don't think about it much more than that, at this time.

@Manonfire63, I prefer to stick with the Bible when I discuss biblical topics, but that's just me.

How do you apply the Bible? Given someone was "Bible Only," they are missing out on the context of how many scriptures workout in everyday life. In that context, there may some ugly and scary things.....there may be some awesome things. Without the context, someone isn't really a Christian. They are an "Academic." Academics often work on worthless thought and worthless things.

  • Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life! (1 Corinthians 6:3)
There isn't a book of the Bible on angels where the Bible describing them, how they were created, and their relationship with God and mankind. There is a lot of inferred meaning in 1 Corinthians 6:3. Someone may receive that inferred understanding in a personal relationship with The Lord Jesus Christ.

Getting into things "Extra Biblical," it can be dangerous. Christians are to be of one mind. (Philippians 2:2) Apostle Paul, before their was a New Testament, he taught out of the Book of Isaiah, showing people how Jesus came fulfilling prophecy. Apostle Paul was of God's Holy Spirit. The Prophets do not contradict each other. Someone working to be of one mind aligns himself, and works to speak nothing false.

First, @Manonfire63, I distinguish between interpreting and applying the Bible. Interpretation depends on our use of the rest of Scripture to come to the correct interpretation of a verse. On the other hand, application involves taking the principle in a verse or passage and using it for people's benefit during our time by illuminating its use in our culture.

Second, 1 Corinthians 6:3 is one of those few verses that has no other reference to it to help us understand it. Thus, we can't really say much more about it, except that it MIGHT mean that we will be involved in the judgment of the demons before they are permanently banished.
