Lazy morning so far. We had some friends around last night and this morning my wife was watching another friend's child while the friend went to the dentist. I'm looking at the weather hoping to get a walk outside done. The other day the forecast called for rain and lots of it so we walked at the church, only to see bright sunshine streaming in through the windows for most of it.

My allergies are pretty bad this morning. But that isn't going to stop me from going for a walk!

This morning the weather was glorious. I was scheduled to teach one of the kids' classes at Sunday School so went to church for that but then skipped out and went for a walk in the woods. I would have walked further but we're seeing friends this afternoon so I had to be home and ideally not smelling like I slept in a hedge last night. So, needing to limit the time I spent out, I walked a little over 8 miles.

I had to get up early to drive out for my doctor's appointment. Hoping to get cleared so I can start doing more chores around the house.

The last couple of days I've been doing some more wrecking.

I've emptied out the last few things in a walk-in closet, removed the shelves, supports and baseboards, and pulled down one wall entirely, most of the opposing wall and the plaster from the ceiling. So far I have about 500lb of plaster bagged up. I'm not sure whether to feed it out to the garbage service one bag at a time (it would take me three months to be rid of it all) or just take it to the landfill and be done with it. A lot will depend on whether I get sick of looking at bags of stuff waiting to be put out and whether I find I need the space they currently take up.

The plan is to divide the closet into two - it's a long narrow closet that's hard to effectively use so I plan to turn it into a smaller closet and another closet accessible from an adjacent bedroom. Soon I'll need to figure out how to remove wall studs, reposition two of them and construct the framing for a door frame to access the closet. I'll also need to put a stud wall in place to divide the existing closet. Thankfully the studs I need to remove aren't structural so I don't need to worry about the ceiling falling in or anything like that.

My doctor cleared me to do resume my chores and I can up my walks to 10,000 steps again! Yay :) Not I need to learn to not overdo things too soon though. So today I cleaned some things that needed to get done but this afternoon I've been lazy.

You shouldn't ask before you see my rates! LOL

I was thinking if it was part of a doctor-approved therapy you should be paying me for helping with the therapy :p

I didn't do a ton of stuff today but got the things accomplished that was on my list, plus a nice 2 mile walk at the park. I can't wait until 3 miles feels comfortable again.

Got a pile of laths taken out back and burned. I had one pile upstairs that I hadn't brought down yet, largely because the space I was using to stack them downstairs was about as full as I was comfortable with. So I laid a tarp out on the ground and threw them out of the window, then took the tarp out back and burned them. I got a good chunk of the downstairs stack burned, along with a pile of old ceiling tiles I've had kicking around since winter.

I've also got my nice new SSD configured and ready to go. Last night I created an encrypted volume on it, and today I copied the data across to it. Now it's ready to be physically installed - at present it's connected via a USB-to-SATA cable. The recent work I've done to my laptop means I've gone from 1TB to 4.5TB of storage, which will be handy.

Last night wasn't a great night's sleep so I took a nap, and then decided to go for a walk. My activity tracker suggested a light(ish) workout so I tried that, and it was harder than it should have been. Still, I got my five miles in even if it did take more than I really wanted to give. Hopefully I'll sleep well tonight.

My husband and I are going to get mulch today to put around the trees and other objects outside. I am not going to lift any bags so hope he's up for the task!

I'm getting ready to go to WalMart to pick up some things for when the family comes to visit later this week. I'm excited to see them.

Figuring out the next chain of jobs to continue my home improvement. I've got a few things to move to the attic so I can use the space for some other stuff that doesn't really want to be in the attic, then I can reclaim the space that used to be a working desk for me, then rearrange the guest bedroom so I can get the baseboard off one wall and get at where the floor joists go into the wall and fill the gaps, then get cellulose insulation blown into the cavities.

Once that's done I can put some drywall offcuts over the bottom of the wall where I need to remove the lath and plaster to get at the wall, put the baseboards back, and blow insulation into the upstairs wall cavity from the attic. Then I can put the guest bedroom back more or less the way it was, although with less stuff in there.

Along the way I can press on with the next room that's being fixed up. I've got a lot of bare wall showing and we've finally decided how the space needs to be rebuilt, so I can get on with making it happen. Lots of insulation panels needed, more soundproofing material needed, and then I can talk to my friend who does drywalling.

Nice walk this morning and then got busy rearranging stuff. Some more stuff is now in the attic out of the way, a couple of cedar chests are moved to free up space, and a few other odds and ends are sorted through ready to be dumped.

Along the way I found something I hadn't expected. The other day I noticed a bird flying back and forth to a hole in my wall I didn't get around to fixing yet. It's in a really awkward position, so I stuffed a good handful of fiberglass in there. It turns out I have baby birds in the wall cavity. So once they fledge I need to get rid of the nest and seal the hole from the outside. I'm not yet sure how I can do that but I'll need to find a way.

That reminds me I should get exercise today. I bought a nice recombent exercise bike a couple months ago. It's a good workout and there are some great coaching videos on YouTube that go through different routines.

SOunds like the improvement job has really progressed along since I was on last. Have you managed to deal with most of the cold spots you were trying to fill in?
