Trying to figure out how to take some wood down from my ceiling.
What I've got is lengths of 2x4 that are about 12 feet long, nailed into place at each end. Many of the nails can be removed with varying forms of pry bar but some of the beams will need to be cut because I can't get enough leverage to pull the nails out. The trouble is that the boards are way over head height (if I reach up over my head I'm still about a foot too short to reach them) and I don't want them falling from that height to the ground. If I'm at one end pulling nails I need to get to the other end, and I probably can't safely carry the weight of a 12-foot 2x4 from one end of it. Ideally I need someone at each end but that means I need a second ladder, and a helper sufficiently confident to use a reciprocating saw while up a ladder.
I've been trying to figure if it's a viable option to use ropes to hold the ends more or less in place. If I can rig that up my wife can hold the ropes from the ground and I can go back and forth cutting/pulling, but whatever happens getting the last pieces down will be an exercise in ingenuity.
