I have had experiences including the Old Hag type and it's definitely scary but doesn't last so keeping calm is key.

Loud buzzing noise and vibrations, sometimes I see crazy stuff, feelings of terror and being paralyzed as I struggle to snap out of it.. and when I get one it will be like that for the rest of the night each time I close my eyes.. I believe it's when I am overwhelmed with something thats bothering me but my mind wants sleep so I hit REM midway. Last time was the night my mom passed away.. I've had it since I was a child, it comes and goes throughout my life.
Once I saw what looked like a person in a cheap halloween witch costume dancing but I knew it was just the condition, another time I heard family in my room talking and I thought they were there but I when I got up and looked around they were all asleep.. Crying lady once, and screams.. Not fun lol accompanied of course with vivid nightmares when I do fall asleep.
I believe my mom had it too because she would claim to see ghosts in her room
