Singing at Congress?

Right now on tv is the live broadcast of Congress honoring the police officer killed in the storming of Capitol Hill and there is singing. But we aren't allowed to sing in church because of covid? We have restrictions in churches like crazy...but not for congress?

Of course. It's OK if politicians enjoy something but the rest of us couldn't possibly do it safely.

I'd have thought it was obvious by now that this virus is incredibly intelligent. It knows what time of day it is, enough to get particularly aggressive in spreading after 10pm (but only in some areas). It knows which land mass it's on, so children aged between 2-11 are only vulnerable in some places and not others. It knows whether a person drinking a beer has ordered food or not. It knows whether a mass gathering prohibited by an executive order supports a cause the author of the executive order considers important (you know, more important than people earning a living). It knows whether you're in a beer distributor or in church. Why is it such a surprise that it knows to leave politicians alone and only infect the rest of us?
