service at doctor's office

I decided to switch doctor's offices a few weeks ago because of the service I have been receiving which includes
losing faxes and/or claiming they were never received.
being put on hold for 20 or more minutes
multiple dropped calls after being put on hold
not filling out paperwork correctly for insurance
it got so bad that when I decided to go on insulin pump the company that I was working with couldn't get paperwork completed by the doctor's office, so someone actually went to the doctor's office in person and handed them the paperwork.
Do you think it is unreasonable for me to switch after having all of these problems? I like the doctor and stayed with her for about 9 years but the staff there is stressing me out. It is for a specialist and not my family doctor

Unless there was a very compelling reason to stay I think I'd have been a lot less tolerant than you have been. I'd be inclined to write to the doctor, addressing the envelope so it's clear it's for her and not her secretary/administrator/whoever, and explain that you really like her but can't deal with her useless administrative staff. That way at least she knows what the problem was. If she gets multiple complaints maybe she'll fire the staff and hire people who are more useful.

I did tell her what the problems were. I wanted to make sure she knew that it wasn't her that I had the problem with

I don't think it was unreasonable to switch. There are so many great doctors out there and it's like a package deal that you need the office to have professional and quality administration.

At one of my doctor's there was an older lady who was a receptionist who kept messing up the faxes. Eventually they let her go once they figured out it wasn't the receiving end of the fax that was the problem, she was doing it wrong on her end.

I think that if a doctor is so out of the loop with her employees that it's time to leave that place so you did the right thing.

When I first started going there the staff stayed around a long time. I had a nurse assistant who knew me and remembered things about me. She's been gone for about two years and since then there is a new nurse assistant every time I have gone.

If a place can't keep staff it suggests either people aren't paid very well or aren't treated very well. Neither is a good sign.
