school starting in the fall

I am wondering if you have heard anything in your area about whether schools will open in the fall? I know our school district is allowing parents to opt in to an online school. Our local library also has a program where you can check out mobile wifi. If schools do open, do you expect COVID19 cases to greatly increase? will kids at school be required to wear masks during school? How would that be enforced?

Good luck forcing a school full of kids to wear masks correctly all day, every day. The tidal wave of parents claiming their kids have medical conditions that prevent them from wearing masks would most likely be huge.

The simple reality is that as things open up there will be more cases. The survival rate for younger people without pre-existing conditions is pretty close to 100% so for most people it's a non-event. That said, for those kids who live with sick parents, grandparents, immune-compromised guardians etc it's good to have options to avoid mixing with too many others. It's just a shame that the kids will miss out on the social aspects of school.

It's terrifying to think of the mental and emotional impact on kids, of watching adults practically cowering in their homes afraid that if they so much as set foot outside they'll be responsible for untold people dying.

This article is from KDKA which I think operates from somewhere near Pittsburgh PA, and quotes a doctor's comments on the recent wheeze by the fuhrer to demand people wear masks in all public spaces (good luck enforcing that one!). He lists the death rate as being 0.1-0.3% although the last I saw it was a lot less than that, but this is obviously an article from the past few days.
