Wish we had some snow. It's very photogenic. Much more so than wind and rain.

It was really nice here this morning, while I was in church. Then I went for lunch with some friends and it was nice. I had a very short walk at a local park with my wife before we needed to get home to see to the cat. We had planned to go to another park for a longer walk but we'd barely got in the door and the rain came down hard. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

We have some snow now, about 3 inches only. It is getting frigid out there. I hope one day you will enjoy a nice long walk. :)

Me too :)

Last time I went for a hike I got a bit mislaid in the woods because my map was out of date, which cost me time I couldn't really afford, which meant that I had to change my planned route because I'd have risked coming down a fairly steep narrow trail in fading light. So I ended up rerouting, which meant my walk ended up a whisker over 21 miles. I was glad to get back to the car after that one.

There are still a few trails in the nearby woods that I haven't hiked, specifically some of the ones that aren't on my old map but are on the new one. I have a copy of the new one, somewhere. I have no idea what happened to it, so I'm most likely going to end up buying another one. It's worth it, if it saves me getting myself mislaid again. I don't say "lost" because I always had a good idea roughly where I was from knowing the area, and my handheld GPS tells me where I am to within about 10 feet, but the GPS doesn't have all the trails on it.

Which reminds me, I need to download some new maps for my GPS...

Fun and games for me this evening. A guy I loosely know on another forum had a dead watch that he was willing to give away to anyone who wanted to take the time to fix it. All he knew was that it needed more than a new battery. He was right. Tonight's job was to get the movement out to identify a replacement, which was interesting because it has no useful markings on it. So tomorrow job is to measure it so I can take a best guess. Once I've got the new movement sorted out I can fix the watch, then I just need to decide whether to keep it for myself or sell it on. I rather like it, but have so many watches already I may decide to rehome it.

I love hiking but have never done a 20 +miler before! Yikes.

I'm hoping this summer to hike in the Appalachians with my daughter but I doubt we'll go past 10 miles :D

I just got back from the orthopedic doctor. The last time they took xrays my foot and ankle were too swollen to tell what was what but it looked like a fractured foot. Today he said I have a broken ankle and broken foot bone. I have to be in this cast for at least 6 more weeks. Ugh, well it's something I have to do but I don't like being in this air cast.

That wasn't good news then! Isn't the air cast the kind you can remove for bathing? At least that's a positive!

Yes, I'm allowed to take it off to bathe. But I'm still scared to get in the tub so I'm taking sink baths.

I never had a plaster cast but I'm glad they don't use them any more. This air cast is very awkward and I have to be really careful going up and down steps. I was so glad I got down the steps okay today. I just went real real slow, that's the only way to go on these things.

The downside to an air cast is you can't have people sign it ;)
