A friend of mine has one. It's handy for the times I watch his house when he's away for a few days.

Overall I'm uneasy about the sheer level of surveillance we're willingly subjecting ourselves to these days. In 1984 the telescreens were mandatory, but if they were introduced now I can imagine a stampede of people desperate to get their hands on one.

I originally got one as I wasn't sure if the teens I had hired to take care of our pets while we were away were actually doing what we had asked them to do as I suspected they were not coming over as often as we instructed. Discovered they were not over twice a day as instructed. So for that reason, it was worth it.
