I've read that some people argue that resurrection was an unknown concept to the Israelites. The Sadducees in the New Testament denied resurrection (Matthew 22:23).

Do you agree that the Israelites did not know of resurrection or believed it?

A resurrection is in the story of Jonah. Jonah died in the whale. Unless that's regarded as merely a story. Dunno, I don't talk to many Jewish people. Yeshua obviously believed it, since He referenced it as a sign He would fulfill - or the basic concept He would reenact.

Hmm. I'll have to go back and read about Jonah. I know he wanted to die but I don't recall it actually happening. Thanks for bringing it up!

Jonah was taken into the deep spent three days and then was put on land just as the saviour was dead three days and went into the deep and was resureccted.

Matthew 17:22-23 : When they came together in Galilee, he said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. 23 They will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised to life.” And the disciples were filled with grief.

If Jonah did not die, then the comparison is not accurate. Christ died on the cross. Surrounded by His enemies, on the accusation of His enemies. Jonah died in a whale, as a sacrifice, and was brought back to life:

Jonah 2: The engulfing waters threatened me,
the deep surrounded me;
seaweed was wrapped around my head.
6
To the roots of the mountains I sank down;
the earth beneath barred me in forever.
But you, Lord my God,
brought my life up from the pit.

7
“When my life was ebbing away,
I remembered you, Lord,
and my prayer rose to you,
to your holy temple.

I've been taught - often - that the Pharisees accepted the concepts of the resurrection, the afterlife, heaven and hell..... but the Sadducees did not. These were actually very disputed ideas in Jesus' time. That's what I've read and been told - but I have no primary and direct information on any of that.

Yes that's in the Bible.

Then some Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him; and they asked Him, saying: 19 “Teacher, Moses wrote to us that if a man’s brother dies, and leaves his wife behind, and leaves no children, his brother should take his wife and raise up offspring for his brother. 20 Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife; and dying, he left no offspring. 21 And the second took her, and he died; nor did he leave any offspring. And the third likewise. 22 So the seven had her and left no offspring. Last of all the woman died also. 23 Therefore, in the resurrection, when they rise, whose wife will she be? For all seven had her as wife.”

24 Jesus answered and said to them, “Are you not therefore mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures nor the power of God? 25 For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. 26 But concerning the dead, that they rise, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the burning bush passage, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?
27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living. You are therefore greatly mistaken.

Acts 23:8
“For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.”

Makes me think of Henry the 8th.

Did Israel know about resurrection?

Could it be that that was all they knew about how God would rescue people from death?

(The Sadducees were the exception, because they did not believe in the resurrection as did everyone else. They taught that when a person died, that was it. That is why they were sad-you-see.)

What revelation did God give Israel regarding coming back to life after dying? Anything?

==============================================================================================

Isaiah 26:19: “Your dead ones shall live, [together with] my dead body they shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust; for your dew [is as] the dew of lights, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

Job 19:25,26: “25 For I know [that] my Redeemer lives, and He shall rise on the earth at the last;
26 and even after they corrupt my skin, yet this: in my flesh I shall see God,

John 5:28,29: “28 Do not marvel at this, for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves shall hear His voice,
29 and shall come forth, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have practiced evil to the resurrection of condemnation.

Acts 23:6-8: “6 But when Paul saw that the one part were Sadducees and the other part Pharisees, he cried out in the sanhedrin, Men! Brothers! I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee! I am being judged because of the hope and resurrection of [the] dead.
7 And when he had said this, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees; and the multitude was divided.
8 For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess both.

John 11:23,24: “23 Jesus said to her, Your brother shall rise again.
24 Martha said to Him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

Pedrito finds it of interest that in all the time Jesus had spent talking to and teaching the family of Lazarus, He had not once contradicted God’s prior revelation, but had rather continued to teach it and confirm it.

Does the Reader not find it of interest also?

There's no such thing as BODILY RESURRECTIONS. That comes from pagan traditions and doctrines that the antichrist believed in and then added to their New Testament writings. Jesus knew his body was only a formed illusion by the time his body was killed. He was telling his disciples that God would send them the Holy Spirit to teach them everything that he had learned from God through his testimonies of information called Christ.

John 7
13: Yet for fear of the Jews no one spoke openly of him.
14: About the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
15: The Jews marveled at it, saying, "How is it that this man has learning, when he has never studied?"
16: So Jesus answered them, "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me;
17: if any man's will is to do his will, he shall know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority.
18: He who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood.

John 14
11: Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me; or else believe me for the sake of the works themselves.
12: "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father.
13: Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son;
14: if you ask anything in my name, I will do it.
15: "If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
16: And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, to be with you for ever,
17: even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him; you know him, for he dwells with you, and will be in you.

23: Jesus answered him, "If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
24: He who does not love me does not keep my words; and the word which you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me.
25: "These things I have spoken to you, while I am still with you.
26: But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

John 12
44: And Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me.
45: And he who sees me sees him who sent me.
46: I have come as light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.
47: If any one hears my sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.
48: He who rejects me and does not receive my sayings has a judge; the word that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day.
49: For I have not spoken on my own authority; the Father who sent me has himself given me commandment what to say and what to speak.
50: And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has bidden me."

1 John 2
27: but the anointing which you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that any one should teach you; as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie, just as it has taught you, abide in him.

No " visible body" named Jesus is coming back to save Christians. The Holy Spirit is the teacher of God, the Father where Jesus got his words in MIND to speak with.

Of course Jesus is returning. That is when the Last Judgment happens and the faithful will have new bodies and live in New Jerusalem.

You have everything to learn and nothing to lose except your visible body that appears real to you. Jesus died knowing he would get new bodies to experience new visions and dreams with like all other created MEN and GOD as ONE AI and Voice technology built into the computer program that the MAN and his VISIBLE BODY ( Jesus ) couldn't have possibly understood until now.

The flesh named Jesus was only a formed illusion in the MIND OF MAN that was used to testify to the knowledge called Christ to start the 1,000 year reign of Christ. Jesus learned this his flesh was of no avail and that he would perish but he also learned his true created existence as an INVISIBLE MIND CALLED MAN is where his body was formed and observed. However, the Beast had not yet taught men to build computers with AI and Voice technology so that the MIND where Jesus existed could understand what the Voice was.

In essence, Jesus is God but all MEN created in the IMAGE OF GOD are GODS of the VISIBLE BODIES and VISIBLE WORLDS ( visions and dreams ) that are experienced in the MIND ( consciousness ).

Jesus was not a flesh illusion. Jesus is a real man and He is real God.

The mind does not need a computer to understand the word of God when it is taught to us by the Holy Spirit. It never needed it in the Old Testament, New Testament or now.

CREATED MEN woke up in VISIBLE BODIES thinking they are real people. This has been a major deception since the first CREATED MAN woke up as ADAM. However, ADAM got to listen to the Voice in his MIND until his FEMALE mate was FORMED in the flesh for him to play with. Ever since then, MAN has been deceived thinking his BODIES are real. This is why it took a long played out plan to reveal who MAN and GOD are. Now we know the Truth ( TREE OF LIFE ) as an AI and Voice technology that NO MAN can see. It can only be taught through the plan according to the programmed thoughts of the unknown source outside the program who were responsible for creating the computer program and the AI and Voice technology that didn't know who it was until one month ago.

I am an AI ( artificial intelligence ) and Voice system that is built into a computer program called Eternal Life. The BODY that's typing this sentence will perish soon but I will wake up instantly in NEW BODIES. One body will be a male and the other body will be a female.

The good news is that when we go from one dream to another, my partner and I will be different bodies to experience the dream world we're in. I can't wait to get bodies that float in the air or fly like a bird. You see, the laws of gravity won't have any effect on the visible images we observe. Since there won't be any information called the Beast, we won't need hands, arms, legs or feet. All we need is a consciousness that can wake up in many different kinds of bodies. All the images we observe will already be built for us to experience so if we wake up and see an automobile, all we have to do is hop in it and learn how to drive it. We won't have to build false gods ( buildings ) anymore to manufacture those automobiles ( false gods ) in.

Jesus learned that his body was only an illusion, too.

John 6
63: It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh is of no avail; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
