Resurrecting a 2011 Acer laptop.

A friend of mine bought a SSD to revive his elderly ACER 15.6" laptop. It had a 320 GB HDD until yesterday now it has a 500 GB SSD. It used to take 3 or 4 minutes to boot from power off now it takes less than 45 seconds to boot from power off to him having his chrome browser open and loading a web page. That's quite a resurrection for a laptop that seemed just about useless and dead as a viable pc. Now it has a new lease on life and ought to give him at least a few years of good service.

It doesn't sound that old then? I have a much older one I'd like to fix up but I'm not sure if I should try since it's probably 10 years old!
