Putin orders US to cut diplomatic staff

The measures came after the US Congress passed a bill last week imposing fresh sanctions over Russia's meddling in the US' 2016 election. President Donald Trump has indicated he will sign the sanctions bill into law.

Do you think this will hurt our country or will it just allow things to cool down?

When I saw the numbers being cut, my first thought was why does the US have so many diplomats in Russia anyway?

But I suppose Russia is a big place and there are probably embassies in a number of cities.

I liked what you said so I googled to find out...it seems that we don't have 755 diplomats but we have staff that serve in the embassies. Maybe that's what Putin is referring to for cutbacks?

On another note, Russia only employs abut 190 people here in the US for their embassies. That was from a site in 2016 but I don't know how accurate it is and can't find any updated information on it.
