an evangelical grace?
Thats grace especially for the evangelicals. They get special grace to show everyone else that theyre wrong and I'm right. Or maybe it's what David Wagner once said, the gift of who cares.

I think it means that it is a grace revealed in the preaching of the gospel. the evangel being a new testament word for "the proclamation of the gospel"

By the way, MennoSota, have you figured out what an "evangelical grace" is yet? You seemed put out by me saying that repentance is a grace. But Presbyterians call repentance an evangelical grace in their confession of faith. Are they not Calvinist enough to agree with you that repentance is not a grace as you repeatedly wrote?

MennoSota - did you miss the question? ^^^^^^^ Just curious.

I didn't miss it. There is no mention of it in the Bible so I don't care what denomination makes an unsubstantiated comment. I'm not bound in my faith to only one denomination like MC. I prefer to let the scriptures speak rather than men.
The greek word used in the scriptures is charis. It means unmerited favor. When grace is mentioned in regard to adoption and salvation it is always God reaching out and extending this unmerited favor to people who are born in utter rebellion to God. No one seeks after God, not even one. (Romans 3)

That is true, you are not bound by only one denomination and possibly you are not bound by any denomination but you are definitely bound my your own opinions. Which is better the readers of this thread can decide for themselves. I prefer to participate in the shared wisdom of the whole people of God. I am not, as you suggested bound by one "denomination". I am willingly receptive to the teaching of the one holy catholic and apostolic church.

Only if Baptists baptise infants without submersing them.
Church historians agree that Baptist principles and practices can be traced back to Christ and his apostles. Prof. John Clark Ridpath (Methodist) of De Pauw university says “I should not readily admit that there was a Baptist church as far back as A.D. 100 though without doubt there were Baptists then, as all Christians were then Baptists “(Baptist Church Perpetuity by Jarrell, page 59).

I place no faith in "church historians". My faith is in Jesus Christ. But you are welcome to whatever authorities you want.

If you place your faith only in Jesus, you will flee the Roman church immediately.

I live in Perth and have never been to Rome but I did flee another church to the safety of the one holy catholic and apostolic church.

Say rather that Baptists are Catholics who have embraced errant views on several matters.
Say rather that Baptists are true from Christ to the present, despite the wicked politics and killing done by Rome.

Don't you dare start appealing to church historians now. Just don't.
You struggle with the difference between the heretical teachings of Rome and history. They are not one and the same. Church history shows us that Baptists have always been in the church. It also shows us where Rome left the gospel and created it's false narrative...i.e. purgatory. (see how I fit the topic back in. )
