Many think that the proper pronunciation of God's name is is lost and that approximations such as Yahweh, Jehovah, Yehowah or some variant is the best we can do. Some search the holy scriptures looking for hints about the proper way to say God's name by checking how parts of his name are pronounced in personal names and places named because of an encounter with God. But I think that every Christian knows better than that if they take a few moments to consider what the holy scriptures reveal to us about God's name. I think that there is at least one passage that teaches us his name and how to say it. Do you agree?

Yahweh, Jehovah, Yehowah... all are accents of the same name.

Lord said...

John 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

Nothing here indicates that they know much more,.. but hear His voice and follow Him.

God will be known by a new name.

Revelation 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Yes, the name revealed by the Lord Jesus Christ who always knew how to pronounce the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit which in generations past was not know but in the last days is revealed to the faithful through our Lord Jesus Christ.

So we don't worry about the pronunciation... just call Him ABBA.

We call him our Father and the Lord and the Holy Spirit because that is his name.

there is only one name by which we can approach the father and thus only one name which concerns us .. and it is the name he has raised above EVERY NAME IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH .. and that is the name of Yeshua ..or in english. Jesus .. with as many pronunciations as there are languages in the world .

Father.

Therefore, you shall pray in this way:
Our Father, who is in heaven: May your name be kept holy.
May your kingdom come.
May your will be done, as in heaven, so also on earth.
Give us this day our life-sustaining bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation. But free us from evil. Amen.
(Matthew 6:9-13)
