Have things changed since I was pregnant over 20 years ago? I hear of women late into their pregnancies getting on flights and having their babies. When I was pregnant I was told that pregnant women shouldn't really fly past the 7th month.

A few years ago I knew a lady who was a senior manager at the (international) company where she worked. She decided to fly from Europe to New York for a meeting rather than teleconferencing. She was something like 6 months pregnant, and arrived in NY with stomach pains. The next day they were worse so she went to the doctor, who sent her to the hospital, and the summary is that she had lost her baby. I always thought if someone was in their third trimester they needed a medical certificate to fly.

I quit my job early on in my pregnancy to protect my child since I worked around chemicals that I didn't want to breathe in. They were mad at me of course but my baby was worth it. So, flying at any point in my pregnancy would have been off limits for me and my unborn. But that's how I felt about it.
