Poinsettia - Latex Allergy link

When I had my surgeries for cancer, my doctor suspected that I have a latex allergy. I didn't really believe him because I have worn latex bandages and gloves without any problems. At least none that I was aware of. He said he saw a reaction though but didn't put it on my medical record.

A friend of mine gave me a poinsettia for Christmas and this morning I finally threw it out after realizing that the plant was what has been causing my sinus infection and bad allergies for an entire month. I looked up poinsettia allergy and latex allergies came up as a connection and I said, "Well, whaddya know?"

If anyone else has a latex allergy, beware of poinsettias since they come from the same rubber tree family that latex is made out of.

I stopped sneezing! So that's good. I still have some lingering sinus issues but not half as bad as it was with the plant in the house.
