The pastor where I attended this morning stated in the sermon that he is divorced. It was in the context of a sermon about forgiveness.

In 1 Timothy 3 it talks about overseers are to be the husband of one wife. Do you think that being divorced disqualifies someone biblically from being a pastor?

I have to admit I don't think I have ever had a pastor who was divorced.

The Bible verse you are referring to is usually taken to be referring to serial marrying, which was common in the Roman Empire at that time, but that aside, the divorce involving this pastor would depend on the cause and who initiated it. The idea that no divorce is ever permissible is not in accord with Jesus' own words on the issue.
