A lot of people have a bible verse that they chose as their Confirmation verse and usually it's chosen because something about it leapt out at them in some way over other pieces of scripture.

I'm not asking whether or not you had a confirmation bible verse. If you did, which verse did you choose and why did you choose it? If you did not go through Confirmation, is there a verse you carry in your heart more than others?

I carry a few verses with me but one of my favorite is Isiah 40:31. It is reassuring to know that God will lift me up on eagles wings. For me that means that He will lift me above the circumstance and that is very reassuring

Do you think of this verse in times of hardship?

Yes I do Lamm, along with knowing that God will never give me more than I am able to bear. Will admit that at times I get overwhelmed and it is hard to be positive but eventually I will remember and draw comfort from them. Do you turn to other scriptures in times of trouble Lamm?

The Pascha Hymns are some of my favorites:

LET GOD ARISE!
LET HIS ENEMIES BE SCATTERED...
LET THEM THAT HATE HIM...
FLEE FROM BEFORE HIS FACE...

CHRIST IS RISEN FROM THE DEAD
TRAMPLING DOWN DEATH BY DEATH
AND UPON THOSE IN THE TOMBS
BESTOWING LIFE!

Truth be told, we have a cloud of verses that bring comfort...
Each suggesting itself in particular circumstances...
Each one a prayer riminding us of God's Love for us...

It just occurred to me - The Paschal Hymns, though Biblical, are not perhaps direct quotes from the Bible...
Have I stepped outside the OP Lammchen?

I don't remember my confirmation verse but one that always clings to me when I think about God and faith is 1 Corinthians 1:30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. But there is a verse that during times of trouble means more to me and that's the end of Matthew 28:20 Lo, I am with you always (or all the days).

Yes, I love the Matthew 28:20 verse.

I was received by a reaffirmation of faith in a church affiliated with the Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod, so I wasn't given the option of selecting a Confirmation Verse. When that subject was broached after my transfer to Hope Lutheran Church ( LCMS) in Virginia, I was told that I didn't need to have an official declaration of a Confirmation Verse, but I chose one anyway.. I hold John 15:5 closest to my heart and consider that my Confirmation verse:
5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing John 15:5-15 English Standard Version (ESV).

They aren't direct quotes but aren't they derived from verses from the Bible?

That verse is also in a song we sung for Ascension Day as part of a choir of our circuit churches! So when you wrote that I was singing it in my head!

Here are some verses used in support of confirmation

John 20:22 ESV
And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

2 Timothy 1:6 ESV
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands,

Acts 8:14-17 ESV
Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John, who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit, for he had not yet fallen on any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 1:13 ESV
In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit

O God be Gracious unto me a sinner...
And have Mercy on me...

Prayed over and over and over throughout the day...

To the exclusion of other thoughts...

Indeed unto excluding them...

I did have a confirmation class I was a part of in the 3rd grade. If we had a verse I don't remember what it was. This is a verse that means a lot to me

28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28 NASB

Would a tattoo of Isaiah 61:1-11 count as a confirmation verse? :bolt:

Yeah and it gets longer as I put on weight.

No but seriously the tattoo is of the biblical address itself.
