Here is my request...

I'm not looking for a site that gives me recipes. I have tons of those.

What I'd like is a site where I can upload my own recipes into my own private book and have photos added if I want with the opportunity to share my book with friends and family. I would like it to be free but not filled with ads.

WHO WANTS ADS? Not me. I doubt there are any left out there that are ad free but I don't want to be inundated with them so much that it just become entirely too aggravating. We all know sites like that!

I found desktopcookbook.com and mycookbook-online.net that at first glance are appealing.

Can someone share experiences with this?

Have you considered using something like blogger.com? I believe it would do everything you want, and can be highly customized via CSS.

No, I haven't considered one. I was hoping for something that was specifically for cookbooks.

Here's my intention...my daughter is going to be an intern and they split the cooking duties for a large group of people. I want to share with her some of my recipes on a site where she can't "lose" them or have food spilled on them. I would like something set up that easily does recipe formatting without having to go through and do my own tables, etc...

You could essentially create a separate page for each recipe. You wouldn't have to set up any tables, the database details are done for you, and you can restrict who can read/comment. You can upload pics too...you can use text or HTML to create your pages. :)

edit: I think I misinterpreted your use of the word table...but HTML has some easy to use list elements, no more difficult to use than the vBulletin BB Codes for lists. :D

If that were the only reason that you wanted to upload them, why not just send your files to her computer?

Thanks :) I know html so it wouldn't be horrible I just wanted something already set to go.

I used to have an amazing cookbook software for my computer many years ago that was user friendly so I'm looking for something similar but online.

I'd like it to be on a site so she can't lose it. Plus it would be nice for an add on to take the amounts I have and calculate it for the larger groups she needs. That way she wouldn't have to do the math.

I would also love the option of having a printable version (of course a fee would be involved).

Thanks :) I'll take a look at it this afternoon.

She'll be at her internship for a few months but I don't know how many turns she'll take making dinner. I'll be making a thread for large size recipe requests! LOL
