So, I joined planet fitness gym online a few days ago and went for the first time today. I use to be a member a long time ago before the pandemic, so I already knew where everything was. When I got there there was a sign in front of the door to the men's locker room that said there was a female attendant in the locker room. When i asked the front desk person about it she said quote "Your good, just don't expose yourself to her." I actually wanted her to leave the locker room while I changed.
So, later on, I finish my work out and the sign is still up in front of the locker room. I looked and don't see anyone in there that is female, so not sure why the sign is there. I went to the front and told the lady that I didn't feel comfortable showering and changing when a lady was in the locker room and they could cancel my membership and I left.
I feel like my rights as a member were violated and sent a message to the manager, but I doubt anything will come of it. I also gave them a one star rating on google.

I read online in reviews that other Planet Fitness centers allow attendants of the opposite sex to maintain the locker rooms. I guess it's not something they advertise openly but I would really feel uncomfortable too and demand my money back!

I wonder if this is a cultural thing. I've often seen signs outside a facility intended for one gender advising that a cleaner/janitor/maintenance crew of the other gender was present. I guess if something is cheap for the members there isn't enough money in the pot to pay the costs of having different cleaners for different facilities.

Of course in the brave new world of gender confusion it's only a matter of time before someone who identifies as genderfluid ends up taking both jobs and cleaning both facilities anyway.

I had this confirmed today by the manager at the gym I went to that they allow opposite sex locker room attendants. Funny thing is, that you never see male locker room attendants it is always females. Not my problem anymore since I canceled my membership
