My cousin thinks a book he is reading is going to give him godlike powers.

I would like to know what you all think about precognition.

It seems there are some Christians who think precognition is natural and there are others who say it is demonic.

This seems like the kind of thing that could be either natural, or divine, or demonic, depending on exactly what form it takes.

Sometimes enhanced observation skills can make someone appear to be psychic. When I was learning to drive I remember one particular time when I was driving on a narrow road through the forest and my instructor told me to watch out for an unleashed dog. There were no dogs to be seen. Except very shortly afterwards there was a dog - unleashed, and it ran into the road in front of me. My instructor wasn't psychic, he'd just spotted what I missed - a person walking holding a dog leash. Since he saw a leash with no dog he figured that somewhere nearby there was probably a dog with no leash. It was a perfectly natural observation but to the untrained you might be forgiven for thinking he had some kind of precognitive powers.

Sometimes God will reveal something ahead of time, which may be something very profound (as in the case of OT prophets) or something relatively mundane but that speaks very powerfully to a specific individual. Sometimes that clearly and unambiguously points the recipient towards God, sometimes it confirms something for the speaker and in due course points someone towards God.

And sometimes the devil will reveal something through a process of divination.

To an external observer it may not be obvious which of these is the case, other than to note that someone who lives a Christian life is unlikely to demonstrate the third option, and a person who shows no signs of living a Christian life is unlikely to demonstrate the second. Something based upon natural observation could happen to anyone.

What would be an example of a demonic type?

Sometimes things can be revealed through divination - tarot cards, crystal gazing, scrying, general psychic abilities, there are a few ways.

Look what I found:
I found this book by Joe H. Slate.
And it is called astral projection for psychic empowerment. The Out-of-Body Experience, Astral Powers, and their Practical Application
And in a chapter called OBEs & Psychokinesis. In Chapter Six.
And it has something called the pk pool-of-power procedure
And it has eight steps.
And step 6 says this:
Step 6. Chalice of Power. Upon ascending from the pool, you notice a beautiful, bejeweled chalice resting on a crystal pedestal at the pool’s edge. Gazing at its intricate workmanship and exquisite beauty, let yourself take the chalice from the pedestal and fill it with water from the pool. Upon lifting the chalice and pouring the water over your body, let yourself experience the fantastic pleasure as the water flows sensuously downward. Your total being is suddenly saturated with power. The vast riches of the universe are now at your command. Remind yourself that whatever you desire can now be yours.
This is all on pages 94 and 95

I read this book when I asked my cousin if I could check it out.

What do I do? :(
Is this what it is talking about?: Universal Manipulation If it is I can see how the devil pulls people into this kind of stuff. :(

I got the Universal Manipulation thing right here: Superpower Wiki

It could be talking about anything. Some of it works, much of it doesn't. The stuff that works comes with strings attached that aren't obvious from the beginning.

I asked my cousin if there were any more books in his collection that promise godlike powers .He said there was one.It is called Plain & Simple.Astral Projection. The Out-of-Body Experience. And it is by a man named Osborne Phillips. On page 47 it talks about going out of body. And doing something called Sending a Beneficent Wish. The basic idea is you leave your body. And literally make a wish. And make it come true.

I don't know if going out of body and literally making a wish come true. is a real thing. So I will keep praying. 🙏

Doesn't that sound like what Satan is trying to promote? I mean, think about Adam and Eve in the garden and how Satan told Eve she could become like God if she ate the forbidden fruit. Trying to have godlike powers is what Satan wants to steer you and your cousin towards because it leads you away from the one true God.

You can make a wish without leaving your body. Kids do it at Christmas every year. If it was as simple as sending a wish and making it come true don't you think more people would be doing it?

There are ways to bend reality to your will, and the Bible has specific rules against doing them. There's also the small matter that sorcery (which this astral wishing is, even if it does use funky New Age terminology) doesn't always work, sometimes has unexpected effects, and always results in some form of spiritual harm.

On Chapter 13 it claims we can be all knowing.

On page 260 it says this:
Understand this: you have the innate capacity to comprehend the entirety of all that is—but you are
responsible for developing that capacity to fulfill your destined role as a co-creator.

This bothers me because only God is all knowing.

I will keep praying for my cousin to be freed from this bondage. 🙏

This reminds me of a line from Huckleberry Finn, where Tom Sawyer said "you saying so don't make it so". Any book can make any claims it wants, and fudge over why nothing works with vague claims that people are doing it wrong.
