What type of area would you like to retire to? How about the house you want to live in or community?

We did move. We moved from north Iowa to south Texas. We knew people here, but I would have preferred in the northern part of the state. We went from a 2 story, full basement 4 bedroom house to a one story 3 bedroom house. I have arthritis in my knees so a one level house made perfect sense. I would actually recommend a one story for anyone moving for retirement. As we age, our bodies gives us signs of aging.

I'm happy where I am now. It's a big old barn of a house that I'm fixing up, it has far more space than we need, but it has been in my wife's family for over 100 years and we hope to live out our days in it and pass it on to our daughter, who absolutely adores it.

That's what I want! A 3 bedroom ranch but I also either want a basement or a storm shelter for tornadoes. I want main floor laundry no matter what.

That's great that the family has kept it so long! You've been doing a lot of work to it over the years.

I am already in Florida, so I am pretty happy here. I don't see moving other than parts of the year during the summer heat. My house is a manageable size, even when we retire. We bought when things were much cheaper, so I can't see moving anywhere for a reasonable price.

What about during hurricane season, are you scared?
