I really enjoy the people here on this site. I see a lot of people wanting to help others and are compassionate.

I've been wondering if there is some type of ministry or cause that we can all join in together to support? I don't think we can "collect" things to donate to people in need, but what ideas can we come up with? We can do more prayers that's for sure. But what else?

OH! I wasn't thinking of making some type of religious group. Instead I would like us to somehow join together to come up with an idea where we can be a blessing to people in need :)

Well, my sister-in-law does some walking thing that gives money to a charity when she does it (weekly??) so that popped in my head. Or a link we can have to click that will do something for a site...no clue really but there has to be something out there where people can help others online.

There's also AmazonSmile for those who shop at Amazon. There are over 1,000,000 charitable organizations to choose from that can receive support every time you shop.

Honestly, I think that kind of thing is better done locally than having a bunch of people who only know each other online sending stuff to someone to then forward it on. Given that most (all?) of us only have so much in the way of resources we can give to those in need I figure it makes more sense to meet local needs than remote needs. Anything hugely high profile is the kind of thing we can all support to whatever extent we want anyway.

I wasn't thinking of sending things. There are other ways we can support a cause :)

What were you thinking?

I guess the first question to ask would be what sort of cause are you looking to support? A specific fund drive (e.g. for Syrian refugees), supporting individuals in specific situations (e.g. children with cancer) or something else?

I'm trying to come up with something easy. The Amazon charity thing sounds nice and there is also igive.com (has anyone done that?).

It is a noble idea, but, I agree that something like that is best served locally.
