Yeshua's Metamorphosis has been translated as transfiguration which sounds so much nicer. The word "transfigured" is translated from the Greek word metemorphōthē or as we know it today metamorphosis. This English word metamorphosis is used in some insects like caterpillars that change to butterflies.Yeshua underwent a dramatic transformation. Some of the changes are in his face as Matthew says that "his face did shine as the sun". The word "shine" is elampsen, and it means "radiate." In other words, He was not reflecting light, He was a source of light, "as the sun." His clothes also were "white as the light," "shining, exceeding white as snow" (Mark 9:3), and, "white and glistering" (Luke 9:29).
Luke in describing Moses and Elijah as "appeared in glory". Glory indicates a splendor, but doesn't indicate that is was a strong or brilliant as what is used to describe Yeshua's transformation. Paul, I believe explains the difference, when he said "There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory" (1 Corinthians 15:41). Although all of these celestial bodies have a glory, not all are equal. In the transfiguration account, only Yeshua is described as radiating as the sun.
