I just got done reading "When Christ Comes" by Max Lucado in 2 days. I was wondering what you all thought of his writings? I didn't see anything really wrong with his writing or the theology presented in this book. It just seemed a little shallow to me. He does briefly talk about what happened to the believer when he dies, but only very briefly and doesn't really discuss in detail the idea of soul sleep or where that comes from or the progressive revelation about death in scripture. He doesn't address what Sheol is or a number of other areas where he could have gone into greater depth. A stories that he tells seem to be very juvenile.
I commented to my wife that his books seem to have the depth of the average 1st grade Sunday school class. Maybe that's why it appeals to some people?

I don't care for his books because from what I've read he's a feel good presenter. He's also vocal on his political standings and I am one who thinks that people like him should stay out of politics. Same with entertainers...and teachers. And sports players.

We read one of his books during Bible Study. I think it was his book, Unshakable Hope. I also read Anxious for Nothing. I enjoyed both books. Guess Im in the minority.
