What’s a cheap way to make meals taste great?

Garlic, just throw a whole garlic in it and onions. I cooked for my brother and parents and now they have also discovered onions again.

My mother never used spices and my dad always complained about her cooking. I've learned to use spices and to know which spices go well with what, so my dad enjoys my cooking!

My mother never used em either. We ate bland stuff. Cooked potatoes, cooked vegetables, bread with beans, cheese. Dutch cuisine. A war criminal from Croatia, who was in a Dutch prison, called our national dishes inhumane torture LOL. My dad was always very grateful, still is, cause his mom cooked like that too. He gets that food in an old ppl's home. He loves it. I don't mind either. You just get used to it.
