Every time I go to the dentist and I get a good check up, I drive home thinking Look Ma No Cavities! Like from the Crest toothpaste commercial. Does anyone remember that?

For brief moment I thought the topic said "Look ma, no Calvinists" :p

I remember, but it was rarely said. Which reminds me, I'm in for a cleaning in a week. It's been a while. Remember me in your prayers :)

You have good genes then, Josiah! My parents both had bad teeth and had false teeth at early ages. So I have a lot of fillings and crowns!

My brother and sister have a lot of fillings, they're older, in my time you had to put your teeth in fluor for 5 mins or more at the dentist. I had a filling once when I ate a Mars every day on a 4 week holiday.

Did you have an exam? How did it go?

Not as bad as I thought - or as bad as it could be. Two cavities and tartar build-up. Took care of the top gum-line Monday, the bottom on Thursday. Had one cavity filled today. Not bad for no visits in about six years.

6 years??? At least you should have been flossing all that time! My last hygienist told me if he got stranded on a desert island she wouldn't care as much about a toothbrush as she would using something to floss daily. So I make sure I floss to avoid more cavities.

Once they removed my tooth stone. Annoying. It was a nice big stone. Since then I have a hole between my teeth. So irritating. I always stick chewing gum in it.
I hadn't gone in years then. Then years later I went with the kids. Flesh is pulling back. They cleaned that up. Ouch. Stay away from my mouth. Not going anymore. That was the drop.

I don't do too badly. My pain threshold is pretty high, so the cleaning doesn't bug me too much. Just glad to have it done, and my gums will stay pretty healthy now if I take care of them.

Please do that, brother.
I was just the opposite re: pain threshold, especially teeth/mouth, and suffered for a long time before finding out there was such a thing, medically. It's not just about being 'tough' or 'sensitive', but ppl are born with diff pain receptors and neurological influences. Some children even have such a high pain threshold, they are a danger .... Some are at risk of getting burned like at a hot stove, but not feeling it soon enough.
Flip side is ppl who are hyper-sensitive to pain, light, noise, etc .... It's in the brain and nervous system. I'm not 'hyper' but I do lean towards that side of the scale, and as someone who had teeth problems all my life, including wearing braces as a teen, it hasn't been fun.
