Do you have any big cravings while on lock down?

I've been craving carbs like crazy. I think it has to do with my allergy medicine though so I'm not taking it today. So far so good. I had bacon for breakfast.

I've been eating more ice cream than usual, but then I've also ramped up my walking. Instead of doing a walk of slightly under 3 miles most days I've been doing a walk of just over 5 miles almost every day. I've also been pushing the pace more when I walk on my own, and I've been doing more work on the house lately.

Good job on getting out more. I think during the winter you weren't feeling well for long so I'm glad you're more active again! I'm outside more now too so maybe that's why I'm extra hungry for carbs? I just know that I feel better with LESS carbs so it's hard to get out of these cravings.

Towards the end of February something took me down for two weeks. That really wasn't fun at all, but as soon as I was functional again I was out walking. If anything I think I overdid it because the first walk I did was 8 miles at a moderately fast pace, which left me exhausted the next day. But it was good to get out and walk again. Now I'm back to a 26 day streak on my fitness tracker, hoping to get to 30 days. Last time I got to 29 days, got the last few steps walking up and down the landing, and then hit the first day of barely moving with whatever bug it was. I think that day I took less than 1000 steps all day.

Do you think it was the virus? I go sick early Feb with something (minus cough) and the other symptoms match the virus except that it wasn't supposed to be in my area at that time.

You would love the pies that we get from the Amish lady!! She's a great baker and her prices are so cheap.

Hard to say for sure but impossible to rule it out. At the time the nearest confirmed cases were thousands of miles away but the statistics I'm seeing suggest it's far more prevalent (and far less lethal) than the original models predicted.

Part of the trouble is that there are so many possible symptoms and many people don't even have symptoms. Whatever it was that I had took me down harder and longer than anything else in at least 20 years. Maybe it was the virus - officially it wasn't anywhere near me at the time but you never know. Even without getting into tinfoil hat conspiracy theories it's hard to trust much of the official word these days.

I was gaining weight before this stay at home thing and it has gotten tough being at home and having access to food all the time. I have had a craving for ice cream lately

Ice cream at the store sells fast so others are like you guys with those cravings!! I have wanted to go to a creamery that has a walk up window and get ice cream but it's so expensive that I want to wait until our daughter is with us to enjoy it too.

Often times what I want is something cold and tasty rather than necessarily high quality. The absolute cheapest ice cream often isn't very good but sometimes I'm surprised by how much I like a cheap offering. I had some cherry ice cream a while back that was hugely expensive - something like $2 for a quart and a half. It was nice, but really wanted more cherries in it. The next time I found a similar size carton of Rocky Road (not my favorite, but they'd sold out of the cherry) that were marked as two for $1. The ice cream isn't the best I've had but at 50c for three pints of it you can't knock the price, and it's perfectly acceptable when I just want something cold to eat in the evening.

We have a local creamery that everyone raves about but I didn't care much for their products - I didn;t think they had a whole lot of flavor.

I live near a lot of farms and some of them make their own ice creams or have dairy marketplaces that sell and the fat content makes it so creamy but you're right that some places just don't have good flavor. There is one that is perfect though and the pricing is so cheap for a cone! I can't wait to go back there and I'm sure they're open during the lock down but it's not a high need now so I'll wait it out.

When I was a child there was an amazing local ice cream maker. The owners were old enough to remember my mother when she was a little girl. Their ice cream had to be tasted to be believed - it was just awesome, full of flavor and very rich and creamy. If you took a container home you had to let it sit for ages to soften up. It was 100% natural so it would freeze so hard there was no way you'd get an ice cream scoop into it.

Then they passed control to their son who traded on the name and the quality nosedived. When vanilla, cherry and pineapple ice cream all tastes much the same you know something is wrong. Last I saw people would still travel for it based on their previous reputation but most local people didn't bother with it any more.
