How would you describe what lobster tastes like to a person who has never tried it?

Hard to say really. I must admit I've always been a little disappointed with it. It's nice enough, I just don't think it's worth the money it costs. It's hard to know what to liken it to without knowing what else someone might have tasted - the default line for so many things of "it's kinda like chicken" doesn't work if the person hasn't tasted chicken.

My father was born in 1895 the son of a lighthouse keeper on P.E.I. At that time lobster was considered as fit only for the very poorest people and was widely used as fertilizer. I have had it a number of times and frankly they were right. It is all smoke and mirrors promotion.

IMO, lobster tastes exactly like a cross between a crab and a shrimp.
