It's not biblical. I think we had a thread on that 10 years ago? :D

Oh of course, I mean for more of an entertainment aspect, and let me see if I can find it.

I wouldn't even bother because it could make people think that's what will happen instead of what's biblical.

New to the forum, glad to be aboard, non-denominational Christian, born again Spirit filled So Cal, Jesus Is The Lord

A pre-trib rapture is found no place in scripture, it's the invention of John N. Darby 1830's and was promoted world wide by C.I. Scofield's 1909 reference Bible with Darby's teachings in the margins, the modern day headquarters of Darby's teachings would be found at Dallas Theological Seminary with the many names as its Alumni, Hal Lindsey, Tim La Haye (Left Behind) J. Vernon McGee (BIOLA), Charles Ryrie, Chuck Swindoll, David Jeremiah, Thomas Ice, Andy Stanley, Tony Evans, on and on

The series is listed under "Fiction"

I come from the early Calvary Chapel movement under late Chuck Smith, throughout the 70's the Calvary Chapels would play "A Thief In The Night" "A Distant Thunder" every Friday/Saturday Night for years, it was a standard in many churches in So Cal "Fear" then the altar call to finish

"C" class low cost productions, Antichrist death squads searching out Christians, scenes of Christians unable to receive medical care at hospitals without the barcode on the forehead, the walk out to the Guillotine "Big Smiles"! Sorta on the tune of 1958 production "The Blob" that would squeeze under doors to get its victims

A Thief In The Night 1973 Youtube

Sequel, A Distant Thunder 1978 youtube

Wikipedia: A Thief in the Night is a 1973 American evangelical Christian horror film written by Jim Grant, and directed and produced by Donald W. Thompson. The film stars Patty Dunning, with Thom Rachford, Colleen Niday and Mike Niday in supporting roles. The first installment in the Thief in the Night series about the Rapture and the Tribulation, the plot is set during the near future, focusing on a young woman who, after being left behind, struggles to decide what to do in the face of the Tribulation.

Three sequels were produced: A Distant Thunder (1978), Image of the Beast (1981), and The Prodigal Planet (1983). An additional three follow-ups were planned but ultimately unproduced.

The film became one of the decade's most widely distributed films and has been highly influential in the evangelical film industry and American evangelical youth culture.[1][2]

As entertainment it's an easy enough read, although I wouldn't accept it as theological truth. My concern with books like that is that when a theology that appears at least somewhat weak is woven into a story that's easy to read it becomes very easy to propagate the theology - people suspend critical thinking to at least some extent when reading something that's clearly marked as fiction, and may end up accepting some or all of the theology as being real rather than just being part of the story.

The final book (I think Glorious Appearing) is pretty lame - from what I recall there are endless Scriptural quotes that are long enough and frequent enough that it feels like the book is more or less a "Bible highlights" offering rather than a work in its own right.

Here's the old classic circa year 2000 Kirk Cameron/Lou Gossitt Jr Left Behind series movies:

Kirk Cameron is awesome. Love him in these movies. I wanted to post more info on him like his movie Fireproof and his TV show with Ray Comfort; The Way of the Master. I thought he also was involved in the series: The Two Missionaries. Couldn't really find any available video streams or details. The 2 shows ran on TBN around the same time.

The books are fiction. The Left Behind series is not biblical. I read about the first 5 or 6 of the books and I thought it was ok. I didn't see it coming when Hattie was taken out in a ball of fire!

I am one that does believe in the pre trib rapture though. The rapture prolly wont happen today, I just checked, and, not a cloud in the sky! Maybe tomorrow!

The Left Behind series is kind of like a parable. It isn't true fact so the names were changed to protect the innocent. It's fiction, however, like all parables they do illustrate spiritual truths, and in the Left Behind series the spiritual truth is that...the pre trib rapture is real.
