Leaving the car idle

Is it true that we save more fuel by leaving the car idle at a red light than to turn the ignition off and start it again after 30 seconds? (Why or Why Not)

The newer cars actually shut off the engine at stop lights that take a long time. I wouldn't want that there is a part that gets worn down when the car is turned on over and over again. No thanks! I already went through that with a normal car.

As I don't drive anymore, I wasn't aware of cars that shut off at long red lights. More and more I think that while I was sleeping, aliens kidnapped me and dropped me off on Doppelganger. That makes more sense to me than today's world.

Makes you wonder if half the cars in line at a drive-through fast food place have their engines turn off on them...maybe repeatedly. Or in any similar line. At an ATM, for example. Presumably, this could happen a number of times when going about one's ordinary shopping routine.

You can hear them sometimes when they turn back on. It's quick, but would still bother me if I had to wait for that to happen before I could pull forward.
