I’m really happy for them. It’s been about four years since having a full time pastor. Lucky someone in the congregation had a retired uncle from the military that was affiliated with LCMS and he originally agreed to a two year interment while they searched for a new pastor that turned into four years. I watched the ordination on YouTube and am hoping to visit tomorrow or at least soon to get a feel for things.

An ordination is fun to watch. How many pastors of the circuit were there?

I counted 10 clergy all together.

1 of course being the pastor-elect.
1 Rev Dr John Bombaro preaching ( His bio information contained in the snippet of the write up I’ve included below).
1 District President Roger Schlechte.

The remaining 7 I believe were pastors from the local circuit. I’ve met several of them before but there was one or two I don’t recognize.

Welcome Pastor-Elect Justin Clarke! He and his family will be arriving, Lord willing, in Utah in early July. Ordination/installation is scheduled for Saturday, July 17th at 2pm at Christ Lutheran with Rev. Dr. John Bombaro preaching. Bombaro is a theological educator for the LCMS Office of International Mission in the Eurasia region. He is based out of Riga, Latvia. He also has 23 podcasts on Issues, Etc. The ordination and Installation will be performed by District President Roger Schlechte. There will be a reception with light refreshments following.

Poor guy had a bit of a tough first service. Kinda a baptism by fire if you will.

First the mic he had clipped to his collar ( or whatever ) came unclipped right from the get go.
He tried and tried and was having a hard time getting it reclipped. Of course the location was just under his chin so he had to do it by feel site unseen. It felt like it went on and on ( for eternity for him I bet ). And of course the mic was on so it was making that crackling sound all the while. I ‘think’ no one went up to help him out thinking he’ll get it at any moment.

Then the count for those taking communion was just one short. Wouldn’t ya know it. So he signaled to someone to bring him one more set of elements. Then reconsecrated them and then everyone noticed the elderly couple with the wife in a wheelchair waiting to be served because they can’t ascend the altar stairs. So again the poor guy signals for two more sets and finally was able to wrap up the communion segment of the service.

His wife three boys and grandpa were sitting on the front row so I couldn’t see the look on their faces.

Poor guy. A lot of pastors have mic problems so I hope he didn't stress too much about that. As for communion, maybe the count was off because they didn't anticipate such a huge crowd? It wasn't the pastor's fault for that at all and he did what he needed to do for everyone so it looks like a happy ending. It will be a nice story to laugh about in 10 years?
