Does your church have any groups that are specific to men or women?

How long do you think it will last until someone balks and says that they should be allowed into that group if they aren't born that gender?

Only social groups that are aimed at men or women. There's no specific reason why others can't attend, it's just not aimed at them. If a man wants to join the ladies' sewing group I don't imagine there would be any need to exclude him - he wouldn't even have to identify as female.

Other groups may exist on an impromptu or private basis. They would be closed groups by invitation. It might just be a group of people who have decided to meet and who can decide whether to invite anyone else based on whatever criteria they choose.

Yes.

What you describe could happen, I would guess.

But when the idea doesn't gain any support, the person in question will most likely decide to move along to a different denomination that is more in line with what he or she wants to get from holding membership in the church.
