I struggle with overheating, although one advantage of running is that people expect sweat. It's a bit odd when I'm walking in the winter and still sweating.

You have a great thyroid then? Or an overactive one?

No idea, I just sweat easily when I'm exercising. I suspect it's down to being reluctant to buy technical clothing because it's expensive and I don't want to spend that kind of money until my body shape is more stable - the combination of tummy getting smaller and muscles getting bigger potentially means things that used to fit well don't fit so well any more.

Yesterday's workout was grim. I planned to run 8 miles but after about 4 was really struggling - my legs didn't want to go and my heart and lungs didn't want to go. I struggled through until 7.5 miles and then decided to just walk the rest.

We hiked 4 miles yesterday and it was a nice walk with good weather. Came across people walking their doggies and that's always fun.

Two walks yesterday, one cut short by rain. So for the second one I took a shorter route to pick up where I left off and did the rest of my regular loop. The end result was more like 7 miles of walking all in, some of it in the rain and much of it in the twilight.

Today's suggested workout is a recovery run but the forecast is for storms and I had a really bad night - it was too warm and I woke up needing to lose a bunch of covers and then took a while to cool down. I'll probably end up doing another walk.

Yesterday I did 3 miles but wow, it was so hot outside in the mid 70s F that I had a hard time walking back to the car. Today I'm going to let my body rest.

I took another walk yesterday. Nothing particularly fast but it felt warm and muggy, and I got home sweatier than I got after running in the cooler weather we've had more recently.

My new thyroid meds are making me drag slowly and I hope that I get energy soon. Today I'm going to a church ladies rally all day so I probably will only get a thousand steps in.

Got some light running in and a lot of walking. Lots of gloomy weather which isn't great for running, not least because I overheat in anything waterproof. But I can walk, so I still get steps in.

After the rally my husband and I went to the park to walk two miles. I'm surprised I still had energy!

My suggested workout today is sprint repeats. I hope the rain holds off enough that I have any desire to do sprint repeats, it's been several days since I did anything particularly intense.

It's sprinkling here and I'm kind of chilled so I'll get my steps indoors today.

I tried a new pair of shoes for running today. I bought two pairs - the intention was that one pair would be my new running shoes and the other would be my go-to casual sneakers. One pair is identical to my existing running shoes, the other is a new pair that I haven't used before. I figured if they work as running shoes I'll use them, if not they can be my casual sneakers.

I really wasn't sure about sprint repeats but decided to take in a range of running styles to see how the new shoes felt. And they were very good, I'm not sure how much was psychological and how much was shoe design but I was faster than I've been in a while. Several times I checked my pace and found I was going a good 30 seconds/mile faster than it felt. My CV fitness is still a limiting factor when I lay down a lot of power but it was a really good run. Despite being a few minutes slower than my personal best it was good to get some speed work done - more like speed repeats than full-on sprint repeats and enough to get my heart pumping hard.

I suspect my legs will hate me tomorrow.....

I have no idea when I'll get to the park to walk this week because of all the rainy days. We need it but I want to walk too.

If the rain isn't too heavy a waterproof is handy. It's not much fun exercising in heavy rain though...

Curiously my legs don't hate me today. My suggested workout is a 30 minute recovery run so I might just do that and then walk the rest of my loop. It will be interesting to see if I can manage to keep my speed and heart rate way down.

I'd hate to slip and fall, especially on some of the trails that I go on where it's rocky. I don't want to twist or break and ankle.

Rocky trails are more likely to be treacherous when they are slippery. I keep thinking of walking as being on paved surfaces where the biggest issue is avoiding stepping in puddles.
