Jonah didn't want to do what the Lord wanted him to do so he fled. Then after he went to Ninevah he was grumpy that the people repented and were saved. We see him happy for once when God had a plant grow next to him for shelter. But then God allowed a worm to cause the plant to whither and we are back to grumpy Jonah again.

Jonah was more concerned about the death of a plant than his neighbors and God called him out on it.
