I've heard No and the reason is because you open your spirit up and the bad spirits can have a bad impact on you.

That's probably true. However, the other side to it is that when you pray you are essentially in a relaxed state similar to the self-hypnotic one. And in both cases, you are invoking a spirit - whether a medium would or a religious person would when they want to commune with God. So where do you draw the line? If you have a hypnotist, their will is impinging on yours, which can have a bad effect. In mediumship, the mind is made blank so that any spirit can enter. In SELF hypnosis your will is still your own, and presumably in prayer that is the case too.

I have never heard of it
But I have now done a fair bit of reading about this topic.

I see many red flags and I find nothing Biblical about it.

That's a good summary

A Biblical way to calm us down
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4v6,7, ESV)

There are a number of differing practices that are called hypnosis, know exactly which one you are dealing with and its origin.

Or just stay away from that which you don't understand.
