Lent is the period, in many churches, that leads up to Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Historically, Lent is a penitential season. It's no longer as severe as it once was, but people still do cut back on amusements, meals, and so forth, until the triumphant Easter season comes. What do you think about that, and do you observe Lent in any way?

I’m observing lent because the bank lent me money, because my pockets have nothing but lint.

I don't particularly observe it but wouldn't say it's a matter of "should/shouldn't" - if people want to give something up as a reminder then more powe to them.

Yes. Anything that places our focus on Christ is a ”good idea” so taking a ‘season’ to think about the coming of Resurrection Sunday will not harm anyone and may benefit most Christians. Giving something up, just to give something up, is not really “observing Lent”.
