How would you react if somebody coughed on you in public and they weren't wearing a mask?

I guess a lot would depend on the exact circumstances.

My personal view is that the danger of the coronavirus is hugely overstated as far as most of the population is concerned, and therefore the benefits of wearing bits of cloth over your face is also hugely overstated.

If someone coughed in my general direction I wouldn't worry about it. If you're talking the kind of obnoxious person who gets in your face to cough I'd be annoyed although more because it's really bad form rather than because of the coronavirus. Chances are I'd just cough right back at them.

I wouldn't be standing next to them in the first place, so that wouldn't happen to me.
While I am not the mask police and it isn't my job to say someone to somebody who isn't wearing a mask, I stay away from people unless they have a mask on

I really think I had the virus in February so I probably wouldn't get too upset if someone coughed in my direction. Plus it's a 99plus percent survival rate.

Unlike another poster, I do believe the risks of the virus are real; however reasonable precautions can help slow the spread. This would include keeping social distance and (at times) using a face mask. I use a basic non-medical mask (i.e. the "blue" ones) when I'm going into a place where distance is either hard to come by, or the mask is (loosely) required.

Having said that - I would not want someone coughing on me, but I guess it would also depend on circumstances. If the person coughed in my direction, say from a 'catch' in their throat, I would probably move, or suggest the other person keep their distance - yes, I have done that before
If it persisted, I would be less than polite about it. If I had an extra mask (which i might), I'd also offer it. Then I'd leave them to cough on someone else.

Unless somebody deleted a post nobody said the risks aren't real. I said I think they are overstated, which is a very different proposition.

Same as I would any other time. I'd think "Ew, gross" and hope I didn't catch any cooties.
