How much hourly for a handyman?

A handyman will come to the house and do a lot of odd jobs or even some of the bigger ones. They're usually cheaper than using the larger construction companies.

How much does a handyman charge hourly by you? It's at least $150 an hour here.

Don't know about a general handyman but the contractor I use for electrical and plumbing stuff I can't do (or don't want to do) myself charged me about $100 for some work on my toilet. The job was to drain and remove it, remove and replace the wax seal at the bottom of it, and reconnect everything. Along the way we found we needed a couple of extra parts - a new valve and a new metal ring to secure everything to the floor. The total job took a little over an hour, partly because it was in a confined space.

That $100 included parts and labor. My best guess is that the parts alone would have cost me $30 from the hardware store. Obviously contracting companies buy in bulk and pay less than I would.
