My blood work numbers showed some climb in the wrong direction, but I'm at the edge of normal, so my doctor told me yesterday on a video call to just keep doing what I'm doing, but be mindful of saturated fats. She also said more fiber can bring down those levels easily.
Does anyone else use something like Metamucil?
Oatmeal seems to work, at least if made a regular part of the diet and not just an occasional thing. A warning though, it is rather high in oxalates if you are concerned about kidney stones although that can be almost entirely mitigated according to how you prepare it.
Coconut oil usually works not only to give an energy and endurance improvement, which is why most people use it, but to control and even reduce cholesterol. FWIW, it also has antibacterial and antiviral properties, musclebuilding properties and on and on. Research it a bit and see it it appeals to you, an interesting about using it for cholesterol control is that it isn't a placebo effect thing, it is something you will know for certain is working (or not) by your lab test results. One nice thing about it is that it isn't a supplement, it is a cooking oil which makes it incredibly easy to incorporate into you diet (just use it in place of whatever else you are using now whenever it is practical).
Nutritional solutions are not the like instant pharmaceutical effects people seem to have come to expect, they take time to work the same way the problems took time to develop, make a commitment for at least six months if you try them or you may give up on them before they have time to make a difference.
Just my experience from my own life, as is said YMMV.
