I will have to try that recipe. I like mine freshly popped (NO MICROWAVE), Just with butter and course salt, but if I buy it commercially, I love the Chicago style mix!!

There is a popcorn shop about 45 minutes from my house that does gourmet popcorn with all different flavors! They have the basic and cheddar cheese and 4 different caramel corn types but then there is baked potato, birthday cake, Snickers candy flavor, BBQ, cookie dough, black cherry, etc.... The best part about that place was going in and being able to sample every flavor! I bet now the virus has ruined that and we'll never get to sample again :(

Wow! What is it with these popcorn coincidences? We've been buying popcorn for the past week or so, I just had popcorn like a few hours ago, then I got curious and googled "popcorn health benefits" and read an article, then (completely unrelated) a naturopathy facebook group I'm a member of posted about popcorn being bad, and now I come to CH and the first thread I see is about popcorn. So strange! Anyways, I've only had popcorn with salt and cheese, and I don't know how other flavors are.

That sounds like a good place to visit.

What bad things did you hear about popcorn? I know it has high carbs and iron content.

Hate it.

The ONLY way to make it even possible to eat is if it is COVERED (liberally) with caramel candy... and even then it's best left alone.

Sounds like your thoughts on popcorn are similar to my thoughts on guacamole, except covering guacamole in caramel doesn't work :)

And ONE of the blessings most of us enjoy is that usually, we don't have to eat something we sincerely don't like.

When I started dating my beloved... who is very Scottish... I worried that some day I'd be served Haggis. I was overjoyed to learn her parents have never tasted the stuff and the closest they got to anything Scottish was a good meat pie, a bit of Irish stew and a good Scotch wisky. All of which I like. I in turn introduced her to brats.... which she likes.

Scotch whisky is good stuff, as long as you make it past Glenfiddich. I can't help thinking Glenfiddich is among the most overrated products out there.

What kind of Scotch do you like best?

.... it's easy to spend over $100 on a bottle of Scotch. And if someone wants to GIVE me a spot of that, I'll partake and enjoy. But there are things in my life that I COULD afford but CHOOSE to not purchase; I have a budget. Value matters. With that in mind, I enjoy Glenlivet. That company makes dozens of types (some ARE $100 a bottle!) but I typically get the 12 year stuff at COSTCO for about $30 (it sells elsewhere for $5-10 more). Not the best.... but to me, a good affordable option. I've had several Glenfiddich products and don't recall any of them disappointing, only too pricey for the product. To ME, the horribly over-rated stuff is Chivis Regal, often selling for $25-30; it would be a candidate for the most over-priced Scotch there is, not worth half the price. Just MY taste....

You?

I don't have any preference as i haven't tasted different flavors till now. We just eat the freshly prepared popcorns with no seasoning added.

That's my thoughts on Glenfiddich, not so much that they are inherently disappointing, they just aren't anywhere near as good as they are made out to be.

I don't drink a lot of Scotch these days - I like the really good stuff but sadly my tastebuds like it more than my credit card does... I increasingly tend to gravitate to Islay malts - Bowmore, Ardbeg, Laphroaig and, on bolder days, Lagavulin (I used to love that when it cost me about $40/bottle but lately I can't find it for less than about $90, and don't drink it enough to justify that price tag). As a rule if it's smoky and/or peaty the chances are I'll like it more than the more flowery malts like Dalwhinnie.

I've got a Laphroaig and a rather fine Talisker in my liquor cabinet right now. The Talisker cost more than I'd normally spend on Scotch these days, but I bought it as a treat for myself and only drink it very slowly.
