I haven't bought a packet of taco seasoning since I found this recipe somewhere online (forgot to bookmark it).

Homemade Taco Seasoning

2 Tbsp. Chili Powder
2 tsp. Ground Cumin
1 1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp. Onion Powder
1 tsp. Oregano
1 tsp. Sea Salt
1/4 tsp. Paprika
1/2 tsp. Cayenne Pepper

I mix this all together and put it in a ziplock baggie with the name of what it is as well as the date I made it.

I forgot to say that I think I add this to 1 1/2 pounds to 2 pounds of browned (and drained) ground beef and then add some water letting it simmer for about 15 minutes.

George, I always use mine within a couple months so I'm not sure how long it will keep in the plastic baggie. I'm guessing you wouldn't want it in there more than 6 months?

Seriously? We're talking about tacos here. Is it really going to last long enough for that to be a concern? It certainly wouldn't in my house :)

Not eating enough tacos to use up the spice. If ever there was something that should have been added to Leviticus it's that :p

Substitute larger units as required. I'm thinking that "teaspoon" needs to be something more like "bucket" :)

Going to have to try that recipe out. I love tacos. Personally I'd add more hot pepper to it but chances are we'll keep it as is and I'll add hot sauce to my tacos.

I was thinking the same thing! I usually double the amount and the baggy doesn't even last a month in this house.
