Should homeless people be provided with any medical care? (Why/Why Not)

I thought in some cities that they already do receive health care? It's just that so many are mentally ill and don't want any treatment.

Under a system like the US healthcare system it makes little sense to hand out free care to some groups while leaving others to struggle with medical bills. If the system ever gets changed to something more like a European model then it would make sense to offer medical care to anyone in the country legally.

Um...yes, obviously. Does being homeless make you less of a human being? Honestly, I have to ask where this question comes from, as it seems to assume/equate a financial status with worth, a particularly Jewish viewpoint.

Bah! What am I saying?

Good Samaritan? Wow, Jesus really got this wrong. A good, politically correct American Christian would've asked his financial status first. Got a home mister? What's your net worth in terms of $$?

No home, no $$? Not sure you deserve any medical care....

Or it comes from the perspective of the US medical system, which I'm sure you know requires some form of payment in exchange for medical care. Unless you're an illegal immigrant, apparently.

I suspect the issue isn't begrudging medical care to people who need it as much as wondering why some people get stuck with huge bills while others get to dump the bills on everyone else.

A lot of the goody goody caretakers are probably abusive, so to preserve freedom, they choose to avoid help.
