If the bill removes some 20 million people from health insurance than calling it a "health care bill" seems quite inappropriate. IMHO the best approach would be to remove the health insurance companies from the picture entirely and create a single payer universal system. The present system leaves some people without coverage completely while at the same time creating great wealth for the CEOs and shareholders of insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, etc. Let us use that wealth to serve people.

That isn't true.

Sadly it is true. If you vote the government gets in. If you don't vote the government gets in. It's little more than choosing the form of the destroyer.

I agree! I've seen the numbers of what the top dogs make at those companies and it's outrageous. I'd be so ashamed to take so much :(

I wonder what the status of this bill is now. I haven't heard anything since the house did this??

In 2016 people had many more than two candidates to choose between. It was not Donald and Hillary only on the ballot.

... and had they voted for someone else in sufficient numbers then the government would have got in, no?

News has unveiled the State's changes to the bill. Some things are good but others are questionable.

How do you feel about the States being in charge of Medicaid? Do you think some people will move to get better coverage from another state?

I think it is horrible for many people but like typical Republicans not for the rich, only for the elderly and those who are struggling

What I don't understand is why they don't want to work on it with more people involved from both sides? To me it seems that they're more intent on getting it passed than actually benefiting Americans.

Sounds like the way politicians operate in general. Obamacare was a disaster, chances are the replacement won't be any better.
